MICROLEARNING
The micro eLearning course Voyager – Your new travel system is a perfect example of highly efficient microlearning in a corporate setting. I created this course as a proof of concept for the World Bank Group (WBG) using Articulate Rise.
The WBG was looking for an AGILE learning tool to deliver a course on a potential new Travel system in 2017. Articulate Rise is a content creation tool that allows you to create mobile responsive micro eLearning courses in the blink of an eye (this draft version was created in less than six hours). Thanks to this project, WBG employees learned on the go all they needed about the new Travel system. They used their mobile devices to consume the course in less than 15 minutes.
A just-in-time learning experience!
I chose to include this artifact because it relates to the learning theme framework by demonstrating my ability to implement learning solutions to overcome organizational challenges. Even though this is just a course shell, it shows the AGILE learning solution's potential. This course was able to respond to a real-time organizational challenge, providing with right-on-time learning.
Organizations cannot devote a great deal of time and budget to develop learning solutions. Therefore, easy to create and easy to maintain courses as this artifact are essential. Moreover, this artifact is also connected to other artifacts in this portfolio, such as the Communities of Practice or the Walk-Thru guides.
The development of this course helped me gain more experience in implementing the ADDIE model. I gathered and analyzed information about the target audience and its challenges to create a robust learning solution. I designed and developed the micro eLearning course according to this analysis, and finally, I implemented brief formative and summative evaluations.
This artifact is pivotal in demonstrating how I applied the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles when developing the content. Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles are scientifically proven strategies to maximize the potential of learning. As an area of improvement, more multimedia elements, such as video o hypermedia content, are under development for the next version of this course.
My experience working on this project allowed me to experience the ADDIE model and create an AGILE learning solution for a major client like the WBG. Working with an organization with more than 30.000 employees worldwide made me realize the challenges international companies face when delivering learning. I realized that disseminating new organizational knowledge must be done flexibly and time a mindful manner. A huge lesson learned from this project is that organizations need easy-to-deliver and fast-to-produce learning solutions.
